My 1st Semester with Empowering Technologies

1st semester of grade 11 in senior high school there are new classrooms, new classmates but ofcourse there are also new subjects. Still i had to work hard to pass. Now let us tackle my experience in Empowering Technologies on my first semester

My first semester with Empowering Technologies are actually very interesting as it have helped and taught me a lot without myself even noticing. There were also challenges i faced this semester with the Empowering Technologies since i am new to this subject. During this semester i realized that there are so much more i didn’t know about the internet because before i thought that i know many things about the internet as i myself is born within the digital era.

The first quarter of our first semester we tackled the lesson in EmpTech which is about internet netiquette. During this lesson i learned many things about the internet etiquette and noticed how many people disregard this even though it was very important to keep internet a safe and healthy place for everyone. We were also given an assignment to make a video about different types of digital uses. The other lesson that piqued my interest is about the ICT in the context of global communication and the evolution of ICT these piqued my interest in our first quarter as i already have a little knowledge about it. During the first quarter we were also given a task which is to make a video about the things that disregard internet netiquette the video that i made was about internet flaming. We were also taught about the different types of malware and how they work so that we would be able to identify and avoid it if we were to encounter one.

Now lets talk about the second quarter of our first semester. In the second quarter of this semester we were also taught a lot of things that i never knew about. The first thing we did in our first quarter was to make an advocacy group with one of our classmate in Facebook because of this i learned how to make a group in Facebook. We named the group we made cyber civility with its content as netiquette or internet netiquette. This semester we also studied about the three types of web which are the web 1.0, web 2.0, and web 3.0 we were taught the meaning of these and their differences with each other. Finally we were told to make a petition by our teacher. The petition i made was about to stop the identity theft of other people as i already saw some of the people i know get hacked and got their identity stolen with their name being used and asking for money with it.

For me Empowering Technologies really empowered technologies in my mind as i gained many knowledge about the proper and ethical ways of using technology. I hope to learn more about the use of technology so that i would be more knowledgeable about using it and be aware of the problems that may arise in the near future. Because of this subject i learned many things such as making groups in social media, starting an advocacy group, making a petition and many more.
